The Parks and Recreation Department manages more than 400 acres of land developed for recreational use in Morganton and organizes and promotes the city's various recreation programs and events.

Parks and Recreation staff maintain two recreation centers, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a soccer complex, eleven parks, a skeet range, an extensive greenway system, and Catawba Meadows Park, which covers more than 200 acres along the Catawba River! Programs and events include youth and adult sports leagues, yearly leisure activities, instructional classes, as well as the Red, White and Bluegrass Festival.
