The Mission of The Plum Police Department is to affirmatively promote, preserve, and provide as much as practicable and given existing resources, a feeling of safety among all persons within our agency's jurisdiction.

Plum Borough is located in eastern Allegheny County approximately 13 miles east of the City of Pittsburgh in Western Pennsylvania. Plum is comprised of 29 square miles and was one of the first seven townships in Allegheny county, founded in 1788. The Police Department consists of 24 sworn officers including the Chief of Police along with 6 non-sworn personnel who are responsible for law enforcement in Allegheny County's largest Borough. The Department has a Patrol division including a K-9 and handler, Investigations Division, and a Juvenile Division. The Department also has a School Resource Officer ( SRO ) and teaches D.A.R.E. in our schools. The Department is very active in promoting highway safety. It is the original founding member of the Eastern Regional D.U.I. Task Force, which includes Monroeville and White Oak Police Departments. In 2004, The Eastern Regional D.U.I. Task Force expanded and became know as The East Hills Regional D.U.I. Task Force. The Task Force now includes North Versailles Township Police Department, Wilkins Township Police Department, Oakmont Police Department, Monroeville Police Department, Penn Hills Police Department and White Oak Police Department. The Plum Police Department remains as the administrating agency of The East Hills D.U.I. Task Force. The Plum Police Department also has accident reconstruction officers and state certified Vehicle Passive Restraint officers. The Police Department also has five state certified fire arms instructors.
