The vision of Polk Elementary School is to promote high academic achievement through a community oriented, nurturing environment dedicated to the development of the whole child.

About Us :

Polk Elementary School is a primary (K-4) school located in Kresgeville, Pennsylvania. The school has been in operation since 1929. Polk Elementary School is comprised of approximately 400 students and 60 professional/support staff. Polk has undergone changes in both structure and grade levels housed there in order to meet the needs of an ever-increasing student population.Polk Elementary School currently offers 1/2 day kindergarten programs and full-day programs for grades 1-4. The curriculum provides instruction in Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts (English, Handwriting, and Spelling). Fourth grade students receive computer keyboarding instruction and have the opportunity to participate in Band. Library, Art, Music, Physical Education, and Health are taught by professional specialists. The school utilizes a full range of educational services including special education, remediation, and enrichment programs. Instruction is delivered in an inclusionary setting.

We are a Professional Development School (PDS) in cooperation with East Stroudsburg University. Education majors from ESU observe and assist in the implementation of educational goals at Polk Elementary two days a week.The school is accredited by both the Middle States Association and the Department of Education. There is a strong emphasis on a child-centered curriculum. Support services are provided through guidance counselors, reading specialists, a math remediation teacher, a school nurse, instructional support teachers, learning support personnel, ESOL, speech and language teachers and gifted education.A wide variety of assembly programs and field trips enhance the learning experience. An active Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO) complements the educational process and provides extra-curricular/co-curricular events for the Polk school community.
