Mission Statement

To proclaim and demonstrate the love of God to the individual, the family and the community.

Vision Statement

Prince of Peace is a Christ-centered community dedicated to growing in faith and reaching out in love to others.  Grow as Christians, learn to be disciples, and do the work of the Lord.

History

Formation: In late 1981, approximately 30 individuals under the leadership of Pr.Mike Patrick held their first formal worship services in the basement of Peachtree Federal Savings and Loan, which now houses Boston Market Restaurant on Holcomb Bridge Rd. This small congregation chose the name Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and became official at a special service on March 14, 1982.

Building on Haynes Bridge: Following a growth in numbers and activities, a building committee was formed in 1983 and 7.5 acres of land on Haynes Bridge Road was purchased. Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984, ground was broken for the present worship center.  August 18, 1985 the first service was held in the new church facility.

New Pastor and growth: In 1987, Pastor Tom Kenny began his leadership of Prince of Peace. The congregation continued to grow. Over the next 8 years, facilities were added to accommodate a kitchen, pre-school and fellowship space with a major expansion in 1995 to expand the sanctuary, narthex and Sunday School space. The house next door was acquired and used for education, counseling, and youth.

Additional Staff: Over the years, PoP was blessed with the work of various professionals who joined the staff to assist in ministry. Included are Jason Montague, Pr. Matt Henning, Pr. Landa Larsen, Pr. Daina Salnitis, Cynthia Henry and Pastor Park.

The Present: As Prince of Peace celebrates 25 years, it is experiencing a renewed growth. Attendance and ministry involvement is increasing. Once again PoP has determined the need for building. See Growth Ministry Team for current status of this effort.

Prince of Peace is a great "little" church, on a fantastic property, but the biggest asset continues to be the depth of talent and the dedication of the members which God has provided. Everyone prays that these talents will be used in a way that is pleasing to Him.
