About:

In 1964, while wandering along the beautiful California coast, we discovered this farm. We knew we had to buy this piece of land when we saw our first two kids run in absolute joy up the hill, the same hill that our grandkids play on today. The land has hosted many people before us, including the Ohlone Indians, holders of a Spanish/Mexican Land grant, and the famous Steele dairy farm in the 1850's. All these residents made their mark on the land and left it well cared for when we bought it from Catherine Steele. We then reforested a large portion of the land and, on the 20 remaining acres, planted Christmas trees, first Pine and later Fir. We continued to expand and diversify the tree types, noting what worked best in this particular climate and these soils. Along with our five children - and their partners, children, neighbors and friends - we tend the trees, orchards, and gardens. Our closest friends work with us here and they are the staff you will meet on the farm.

The land has gone through many changes over the last 50 years. We have made many improvements and learned from our mistakes and successes over the years. For us, it is a joyful, ongoing process. Rancho Siempre Verde is a place to bring people together to share the farm's beauty and bounty; it's a place to deepen treasured friendships and start new ones. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
