Mission

Our mission is to provide an educational environment in which all children can and do learn. We believe that our students can successfully compete with students in Maine, across the nation, and around the world.

To support this belief, we developed a System Improvement Plan that is designed to strengthen our school programs and prepare our students for life in the 21st Century. Our Plan is based on the latest research, the results of 1,400 returned community surveys, and the Maine Learning Results. We are fortunate to have had so many citizens participate in our plan and to have the plan endorsed by all major stake holders to include staff, students, parents, school board, town council, and the community at large.

The cornerstones of our plan are a focus on academics, accountability, communication and school environment. Recently we have witnessed changes in our curriculum, methods of instruction, and significant increases in student test scores. This, along with the prospect of a new science and technology addition to our high school and the possibility of a new middle school, makes the future look bright for our community. Each year approximately 75% of our students go on to post secondary education, while 25% go directly into the work force. Bucksport High School graduates have attended some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country to include such institutions as Bowdoin College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and Dartmouth.

In Bucksport, the bottom line is that we have confidence in our students and staff and believe that our success should be judged by the performance of our students.
