Our focus for the coming year will be on continuing to increase student achievement on state-mandated tests while creating an environment, which will inspire lifelong learning. While state-mandated tests are important and vital to the image portrayed of our district, we must strive together to create a love for learning in our students. We will face the task of mastering skills to achieve excellence on the Reading and Mathematics Achievement Tests in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Our 4th graders will also take the Writing Achievement Test. Students in the primary grades will also be taking state- mandated tests that are called diagnostic tests to help determine the academic areas where they need help.

Our staff has been trained on how to create engaging work in order to provide effective instruction. We will be moving towards identifying the types of experiences our students receive in order that we may improve overall instruction, thus attaining greater student achievement. Grades four through six will be departmentalized. This means that teachers in a grade level will focus on one subject area along with teaching Language Arts. It is my belief that this model will provide for more effective instruction. We would like to invite any and all parents into the building to partner with our staff in order to maintain a high standard of service to our students.
