Round Lake School District

880 West Nippersink Road
847-270-9000

Our District:

RLAS-116 is made up of a preschool, kindergarten, five elementary schools, two middle schools, a high school and a transition center. We are truly neighborhood schools; each serving an important role within its individual community. We are so pleased to announce that U.S. News & World Report rated Round Lake High School one of the Best High Schools in Illinois and the Nation with a Silver rating in 2017!

We are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to serve approximately 7,300 students in grades PK-12. Our students have a great advantage in that the District is quite diverse; offering them experiences not found in other places!

RLAS-116 currently employs approximately 925 outstanding and dedicated staff members.

Community Involvement:

The Round Lake Area is unique in that it is comprised of five different villages. There are several community organizations; Round Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, BEST, Round Lake Area Exchange Club, to name just a few; that take an active role of supporting the children of this community. All organizations recognize the outstanding academic and community-minded students of our school district by sponsoring a variety of scholarships, grants and recognitions.

Location:

The Round Lake Area is located in northeastern Illinois, halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee and just 50 miles from the cultural and educational opportunities of either metropolis. The Round Lake Area is on two train lines to Chicago, with access to trains to Milwaukee as well. Recreational opportunities abound. Our local park district and county forest preserves are both award-winners, with year-round recreation that ranges from fishing, golf swimming and boarding to cross country skiing, hiking and hundreds of recreational programs. Is reading one of your favorite hobbies? The Round Lake Public Library has the latest and greatest features and a wonderful selection of events throughout the year. Six Flags Great America amusement and water park is just minutes away, and endless shopping options. Yet despite all the big city amenities, the Round Lake Area has maintained its small town, country feel.
