About Us

San Diego's leaders began dreaming of a Civic Center not long after the turn of the century. Although the idea of such a project was widely heralded, timing was the project's worst enemy. World War I and the Great Depression diverted public attention and support.

But while the Depression dashed hopes of funding the project locally, it would eventually be the impetus for the Center's construction. Now known as the County Administration Center, its completion was a source of pride for County residents in the midst of the economic struggles. San Diego's pre-war dreams of the early 1900s to the celebration of opportunity in the midst of the Great Depression, Bridging the Centuries chronicles the legacy of the historic San Diego County Administration Center.
