“Where We Inspire to Go Higher”

About Us:

Sharon Hill School recognizes and treasures its past, present, and future. It is the oldest elementary school building in the district, and the first to be updated to accommodate middle school grades six through eight. As you enter the building you are greeted by a four-foot owl statue, the symbol of our long time mascot. As you walk down our halls, you see beautifully decorated corridors displaying our students’ latest works of art.

We honor the past with celebrations like our Black History Fair and Grandparents’ Day. We observe current events through a variety of programs—Mock Elections, fundraising for Social Causes, and Newspapers in Education. We look to the future with the cutting edge technology of our Computer Lab, Keyboard Music Lab, and our commitment to an annual Earth Day Program.

The staff is a warm mix of veteran and recent teachers, support staff and administrators who nurture our current students to develop a lifelong love of learning. In addition, we offer our students the opportunity to grow as members of the larger society. Programs like Responsive Classroom and Peer Mediation encourage personal responsibility, respect and tolerance.

Academically, we showcase our talents through annual events, such as, the Spelling Bee and Science Fair. Our academic achievements are recognized with quarterly Honor Roll Assemblies. Music and art talents are highlighted during our Spring Concert and Art Festival. Family Reading Nights, Family Holiday Night, and evening Parent Meetings reach out to connect with our students at home. Though academics firmly rule the majority of our days, occasionally we have some fun with a Lip Sync Contest, Talent Show or Field Day.
