Sheridan Elementary School

1360 North Sheridan Road
847-234-1160

Sheridan serves a population of students from Kindergarten through fourth grade. The student enrollment at Sheridan is approximately 247 students. Our school mascot is Spark the Shark. Many parents choose to live in Lake Forest due to our reputation for academic excellence, and we at Sheridan uphold that reputation through our work to meet the needs of all of our Sheridan Sharks.

Sheridan students are provided with an environment where they are consistently challenged and motivated to do their best. Together, administrators, staff members, and special service professionals partner with the community to engage each and every child in the rigorous curriculum at Sheridan. Core subjects studied include reading, math, writing, social studies, and science. Sheridan students are also fortunate to participate in music, art, wellness, and library and technology skills in addition to their core areas of study. A unique aspect of our elementary curriculum at Sheridan Elementary School is our focus on the development of each child’s skills in World Language. Students begin Spanish instruction in second grade which continues through fourth grade. In addition, all students are exposed to Latin through study of word origins and derivatives in the English Language Arts curriculum.  This exposure deepens students’ understanding of English and provides a basis for the study of other romance languages. World Language instruction continues in middle school.
