CHURCH HISTORY
Signs and Wonders Church of Deliverance (SWCD) was conceived in the hearts of Pastors David O. and Laura U. Taylor in March 1997. After over a year of praying and meditating, they agreed that God was calling them to Stony Creek, Virginia. They began to search for their first church location. Since Stony Creek is a small town, finding a vacant building became a great challenge. But God always makes provisions for the vision. Subsequently, the members of the local Masonic Lodge opened their doors, and the first location for SWCD was established. The initial service was held the first Sunday in May 1998 with eight adults and seven children in attendance. This building seated approximately 50 people at full capacity. We praised God for over two years in this sanctuary ... And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:47)
In February 1999, Apostle Morris E. Tucker of Capitol Heights, Maryland consecrated Pastor Taylor at the Steven Kent Conference Center in Petersburg, Virginia. A prophetic word came forth that God would send "quality and not quantity and out of the quality He would produce quantity." This prophecy has proven to be the anchor of our ministry. The ministry grew and the building became too small to house the next season of our destiny.
God moved again in a miraculous way. The town's ABC Store closed and immediately we sought to inspect the building and meet the owner. We knew this would be our next home as we drove onto the grounds. We held the dedication of our new edifice in June 2000.
With a strong desire to obtain a spiritual covering, Pastor Taylor was led by the Spirit to Bishop Gerald O. Glenn, Pastor and Founder of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church, Richmond, Virginia. Bishop Glenn confirmed that God had burdened him to help small churches. SWCD is a member of the New Deliverance Fellowship Conference, headed by Bishop Glenn. Pastor Taylor was appointed First Assistant Presiding Officer of the New Deliverance Evangelistic Fellowship of Churches on July 8, 2005.
SWCD is currently worshipping at Stony Creek Community Center located in Stony Creek, Virginia.
We are grateful for all the blessings God has bestowed upon us. SWCD has just celebrated "nine" momentous years of ministry in May 2005. We stand in great expectation of the things that God is yet to do in our midst!
