We invite you to worship with us and consider making Skyline your church home. Dr. Orval Butcher was the founding pastor of the church and served for 27 years. Skyline has come a long way from the 350 seat auditorium we first met in almost 50 years ago. In 1995, Dr. Maxwell felt led by God to pursue his national ministry, Injoy, which provides leadership tools and materials to pastors and lay leaders. Dr. Jim Garlow left a thriving church in Dallas and became Skyline's third pastor in October, 1995. One of Pastor Garlow's primary passions is children, youth, and young adult ministries. Another indicator of Pastor Garlow's passion is his development of Next Level Living, a church-wide, personal and spiritual growth strategy. It consists of classes designed to focus on Jesus: To Experience His Love, Enjoy His Family, Know His Ways, Be His Person, and Do His Work. On Palm Sunday, 2000, Skyline's 19 year dream of relocating to the mountain came true. Not only was this a lengthy endeavor, it was also a costly one. Almost $26 million was spent preparing the site infrastructure and building a $6 million building. Yet the amazing people of Skyline did not waver from their commitment to reach the East County.
