Soft Shell Crab Festival

The Old Village Association of Port Royal has announced the date and line-up for the upcoming 15th Annual Soft Shell Crab Festival. Perhaps one of the most popular and always-anticipated Lowcountry events, the big day this year is on Saturday, April 21st  from 11am to 5pm.

Port Royal goes nuts over soft shell crabs and the Annual Soft Shell Crab Festival will be full of them (yes, crabs and nuts). The opportunity for soft shell crab is quick. It only comes once a year and the fun community festival offers a day of food and enjoyment, and a fantastic opportunity to savor one of our Lowcountry delicacies.

And, boy…do they come. If you’ll be one of the usual crowd of 8,000+, expect a day full of fun.

Taking over Paris Avenue, live music will be performed by Souls Harbor and two other local bands and there will be tons of food, plenty of artisan craft vendors, local dancers from Larew Dance Center and an expanded kids’ fun zone.

The Beaufort Classic Car & Truck Club will be on hand showing off their spectacular collection of vehicles. Local organization Bikers Against Bullies will also be on hand with anti-bullying messages for kids, and the Rotary Club of Beaufort will host their annual Charity Crab Race along Battery Creek. This year, the winner receiving a $2,000 cash prize and an available top prize of $40,000 to one possible winner and 10 chances to win $5,000! To enter the race, visit  www.portroyalcrabrace.com.

It’s always a good time to indulge in the sites of the beautiful wetlands and historical charm that Port Royal has to offer, while experiencing food, drink, and fun for the majority of the afternoon.

As always, admission is free. Please, no pets, per Port Royal Town Ordinance
