1912 Brownsville Road

At South Pittsburgh Assembly of God it is our desire foster God’s purpose for every believer in at least five key areas:

Worship:
We believe that worship should be a sincere reflection of our desire to bring a smile to the face of our God and joy to the hearts of our worshipers. We experience His presence in a way that reflects a contemporary celebration of His goodness!

Teaching:
We will provide a strong discipleship program by offering small groups and Christian Living Courses to promote Christ-like-ness and accountability to the Word of God in the lives of our adherents.

Friendship:
We will do everything in our power to facilitate a caring, loving, and nurturing environment for all who walk through our doors. Our ministry will reflect our respect for God and each other. We strive to be a church where all are welcome.

Evangelism:
The heart of the Gospel is found in God’s love for people. At South Pittsburgh Assembly of God we will never lose sight of the mandate to shine the love of God in a dark world. We will build bridges into the community through friendship evangelism and structured outreach events to fulfill the Great Commission.

Service:
It is our hearts desire that the Lord would continue to enable us to find creative ways to demonstrate the love of God in tangible ways through events like ‘God’s Give-a-way’ and Pittsburgh Invasion. We will encourage and give opportunity for every believer to develop his or her natural talents, acquired skills, and spiritual gifts for personal ministry.

Our Motto:
Our motto is “Shining the Light of Christ in a Dark World”

Our History:

South Pittsburgh Assembly of God began the summer of 1995 as a Bible Study of 4 people in the home of the founders, Dave & Patricia Smith. As the church grew, the need for a building was evident. Later that fall, space was rented in Pittsburgh's South Side in the Goodwill Industries Chapel. At that time, the congregation was named South Side Christian Center. When renting space was no longer an option, the small congregation of 15 bought a building in the Carrick section of Pittsburgh in March of 1997 with a grant from the Assemblies of God.

After over 7 years of service, Pastor Dave felt it was time to leave the established church in the fall of 2002. SPAG welcomed our current pastor, Paul Hansen, his wife, Tammy, and daughter, Camryn, in March of 2003. The congregation sees this as the next step in growth for SPAG, and are very excited about and prepared to embrace this next phase in the evolution of our church.

The ethnically and economically diverse congregation is settled in a residential neighborhood wit and average Sunday morning attendance of 60 people. The love for Jesus and desire to follow His ways shine in the lives of the believers who want to see God move in the hearts of the people of south Pittsburgh.
