St. Ann's Church Of Hartland
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to serve God by (1) spiritually empowering individuals (2) fostering universal healing on all levels (3) providing safe and comfortable spaces for spiritual growth and (4) accomplishing our mission with love, cooperation and mutual respect.
History:
In November, 1981, after two years of searching for suitable spiritual home, Pastor Tom, together with a small, dedicated group of fellow searchers, bought a 60-year old former Presbyterian Church on the corner of 60th and National in West Allis. One month later, on December 17, St. Ann's Interdenominational Church became a Wisconsin not-for-profit, religious corporation and opened its doors.
St. Ann's is a "New Thought" Church. The people of St Ann's believe that Jesus came to teach a new revelation in the man's relationship with God. At St. Ann's our goal has been to follow his teaching by exploring a new and more profound understanding of God, a deeper appreciation of ourselves as God's most wonderful creation, and to develope a greater love for our brothers and sisters everywhere. In this process of loving and healing ourselves, we enter into a new and personal relationship with God and with our community.
After serving the West Allis area for almost 20 years St Ann's expanded to the west. In 1998 St Ann's acquired a beautiful church in Hartland,Wisconsin. Hartland is in a rapidly expanding area of northern Waukesha County. Here, St. Ann's in Hartland opened the Mind-Spirit Institute. MSI, as it is popularly called, is an alternative spiritual healing and teaching center. (www.mindspiritinstitute.com) In December 2002 St. Anns closed 7th Ray Boods and Gifts, a popular West Allis spiritual bookstore and opened a smaller version in the Hartland church. St Ann's continues to minister in West Allis at St Ann's Chapel.
Often it has been asked: "Why the name St. Ann's? Our name represents the feminine side of Christianity. Ann was the mother of Mary and the grandmother of Jesus. The name means "grace" and symbolizes a loving acceptance of all without question. The name also reflects our dedication to the energy of Mother Earth - wise, nurturing, accepting, and forgiving. Over the years other names have been proposed but none better has yet been found. And so, even in name, St. Ann's continues to serve as a bridge between traditional religious thought and the many levels beyond.
Here at St. Ann's you are nurtured and loved. You are offered warmth and genuine acceptance just as you are - with the expectation that you will grow into someone wiser, greater, healthier, and happier.
