Mission statement:
Saint Mark Parish strives to provide mutual assistance in Christian life, witness, service, worship and formation in the Catholic Tradition.

History:

In 1960 Bishop Treacy of the Diocese of LaCrosse established the parish under the patronage of Mark the Evangelist.  Father Angelo Commoretto was the founding pastor.  Initially Sunday liturgy was celebrated in the lower level of Saint Therese church and children attended classes at Saint Therese and Saint Mary schools.

On May 28, 1961 Bishop Treacy blessed the temporary building we use as the church today and ground was broken that day for the parish school.  The Sisters of the Divine Savior of Milwaukee agreed to staff the school.

Approximately 1000 persons at addresses have registered their membership in the Catholic Church as the parish.  On the parish staff a the pastor, deacon, director of religious education, parish minister, coordinator of religious education, parish nurse, pastoral musician, leader of prayer, school principal and a support staff.

40 catechists facilitate a 400 parish member catechetical program, the RCIA and adult formation.

The parish is associated with Newman Catholic Schools (NCS) of the parishes of the Wausau area. Preschool through grade 6 is housed at Saint Mark, Child Development Centers at Saint Therese and Holy Name of Jesus Parishes, the Middle School at Saint Matthew Parish and Newman High School in Wausau house grades 6 through 8 and 9 through 12.
