The Gourd Place

About Us :

We have been living and sharing the gourd life since 1976 when we first began experimenting with gourds and selling our wares at craft fairs. In 1983 we built our first permanent shop and in 1991 moved to our present location on GA 384, also known as Duncan Bridge Road.

In our Gourdcraft shop we feature the work of artist/co-owner Priscilla Wilson, who creates all kinds of items from gourds - sublime to ridiculous- including carved decorative containers, natural utensils, toys, planters, calliGOURDphy (calligraphy on gourds), and much more. We also sell plain gourds, both cleaned and uncleaned, and some tools and materials for gourdcrafting. In addition to our gourd shop, we have a nature specialty shop in which we feature decorative and educational items relating to wildflowers, birds, and butterflies. During the spring and fall, we maintain an exhibit of wildflowers currently in bloom - a favorite of our regular customers.

Our gourd museum is free! This permanent exhibit currently includes over 200 gourds from 23 countries, including reproductions of early American items, works by contemporary gourd artists, and displays of many different kinds of gourds from around the world.
