History
Argos is one of four towns and ten townships located in Marshall County in North Central Indiana. Situated at the intersection of U.S. 31 and State Road 10, Argos covers approximately four square miles. Argos traces it’s history back to 1832 when the land was purchased from the Potawatomi Indians. In 2001, Argos celebrated its 150th Anniversary.

Argos owns its electric, water and wastewater utilities. The utilities are comprised of field and office personnel working together as a unified team to service a multitude of needs for the community.

· Argos was incorporated under Indiana law in 1869.
· Argos graduated its first class in 1886.
· William Qualls invents the 2 color stop light and the Quall's wind indicator that is used by airports around the world since 1894.
· George Leland invents the Leland electric motor in 1908.
· Argos girls high school basketball team lose to Wabash in State finals in 1929.
· James Middleton was a pitcher and manager in the major leagues for the New York Giants.
· The only town in the United States named Argos.
· International hardware association founded in Argos.
· Argos lays claim to the first state soccer championship.
· Argos has the state record of 76 consecutive regular season basketball game victories.
· Argos is home for the Marshall County Fair.
