History

The Town of Blowing Rock has a permanent year-round population of approximately 1,425 and is situated along US Highways 321 and 221, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Blowing Rock, known as "the Crown of the Blue Ridge", is a very special place to live, work, and play. We are the only full service community on the Blue Ridge Parkway and are centrally located to many High Country attractions.

The village offers the best of small town living: cool climate, magnificent views, year-round outdoor activities, a safe environment, beautiful churches, an award winning school and the finest accommodations with superb restaurants and shopping. A major preservation effort has been in place for the past decade to protect the proud historic heritage of the village and maintain the community character that so enhances this little town.
