Trinity Lutheran School

“The members of Trinity Lutheran Church desire to follow the call of God’s plan for us by sharing His love through Christian education, nurturing and outreach with Gods people in the congregation and the community so that all may enjoy Christ’s eternal kingdom.”
About Us:
Trinity Lutheran School is a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and National Lutheran Schools (NLSA) accredited Preschool – 8th grade. TLS offers a strong academic program in a Christ-centered environment serving 250 students. Trinity Lutheran Church was founded in 1943 and as enjoyed an outstanding academic reputation throughout the community for sixty years.
Trinity Lutheran School is known for its high-level academic program and its firm, effective discipline program. The curriculum is supported by our Library Media Center, which houses the computer lab and library. The school offers a stimulating co-curricular program including an after school sports program for students in grades 5-8, an outstanding music program which includes instrumental music lessons, a children’s choir and an all school band.
Middle school students participate in outdoor educational trips each year which include for 8th grade, Washington D.C., 7th grade goes to El Camino Pines, and the 6th grade class studies at the Catalina Marine Institute.
History:
Trinity Lutheran School was opened in September of 1943 with one teacher instructing Grades 1 through 8; enrollment at the beginning of the year was 16 and by the closing of the first year had grown to 36. The “school” was the parish hall located at the corner of Pickering and Penn Streets in Whittier.
In 1949 Trinity Church purchased the property on Floral Drive, the present site of the church and school plant. Three classrooms were constructed in 1950. An additional three rooms and the Mattie Messimer Library were dedicated in 1982 making a total of 9 separate classrooms, teachers lounge, school office, and principals office.
Trinity Lutheran School is a Preschool through eighth grade parish school.
