The Mission of Turlock Free Methodist Church is to bring people to Jesus and membership in his family, develop them to Christlike maturity, and equip them for their ministry in the church and life mission in the world, in order to magnify God’s name.

The Turlock Society of the Free Methodist Church was first organized in 1907, worshiping in Keyes and then Hughson before moving to a rented house on East Main Street in Turlock in 1913. In 1915, a building on South Broadway was purchased from Calvary Baptist Church. Then, in 1920 there was another move to the corner of Mitchell and Center Streets. (The building still stands there and now houses Hendrikson’s Turlock Music.) The church continued to grow and prosper over the next 40 years. In a visionary move, the society purchased about ten acres of land on East Tuolumne Road in 1961 to provide an opportunity to relocate to a site with room for future expansion. Construction on the new church facilities was begun in 1970 and completed in 1971. Soon after, the parsonage was added. Since that time, many improvements to the buildings and property have been made including the parking lot, ball field, picnic area and new classroom building.

In 1989, the church offered its facilities to Turlock Christian Schools for the establishment of a Christian Preschool in the community. The relationship between the preschool and the church has been very positive. The attractively decorated classrooms, the beautiful children’s play area, and the remodeled Infant/Toddler Center have resulted from this arrangement.
