University Baptist Church Of Kingsville

1324 North Armstrong
361-592-4143

On July 18, 1954, Armstrong Chapel began worship services at 1324 N. Armstrong as a mission of the First Baptist Church in Kingsville. By September 22, it had grown sufficiently to be chartered as College View Baptist Church. In 1968, It became University Baptist Church (UBC) when A&I changed its name to Texas A&I University.

University Baptist Church started as a mission and continues to be mission-minded. A mission was begun by UBC on the outskirts of Alice, Texas in a Hispanic community called Tecolote. First Baptist Church of Alice has now taken on the responsibility of this mission because of their closer proximity to the mission. In 1988, a similar mission was started in Hebbronville with the help of Central Baptist Church of Kingsville. This mission was maintained until the First Baptist Church of Hebbronville assumed responsibility for its support. In 1996 the First Baptist Church of Bevil Oaks provided mission teams to conduct six Backyard bible Clubs. One, a Bible Club in Encino (13 miles south of Falfurrias TX has continued and became Encino Baptist Church. Another club, conducted in La Parrita, (6 miles east of Falfurrias TX.) became La Parrita Baptist Church. La Parrita was incorporated in June 2000. In 2001, we received an anonymous gift of the old Armstrong's Station and property. This facility is used to minister to the community in a more neutral setting and provides additional parking for our church.

University Baptist Church, located across the street from the A&M campus, is attended by many international students. Our church family is comprised of several international ethnic groups. Today, as in the past, everyone is welcome to worship with us. Seekers as well as believers.

UBC, a member of the Coastal Bend Baptist Association, supports international missions through cooperative giving through the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Southern Baptist Convention. Additionally, the church regularly conducts Mexico Mission trips for evangelism and outreach. UBC is a loving, caring and accepting church which offers activities for persons from all ages and backgrounds. We welcome everyone who is seeking a church home and Christian fellowship.
