ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF PUGET SOUND University of Puget Sound is a 2,600-student, independent, national undergraduate liberal arts college in Tacoma, Washington, drawing students from 47 states and 13 countries. Puget Sound graduates engage in lives of leadership and service, and include Rhodes and Fulbright scholars, notables in the arts and culture, entrepreneurs and elected officials, and leaders in business and finance locally and throughout the world. Puget Sound is the only nationally ranked independent undergraduate liberal arts college in Western Washington, and one of just five independent colleges in the Northwest granted a charter by Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's most prestigious academic honorary society. Among other honors, the university was recently recognized as the leading small school in the nation in the number of alumni serving in the Peace Corps, in the top 10 of Fulbright Fellowship-producing colleges in the country, and the leader in the NCAA Division III Pacific Northwest Conference. CAMPUS FACILITIES Our tree-lined, 99-acre, Tudor-Gothic style campus is nestled in a residential neighborhood above Commencement Bay, just minutes west of downtown Tacoma. Campus facilities include residence halls, meeting rooms, a dining center, café, athletic facilities, library, bookstore, copy services, post office, plentiful free parking, and easy access to public transportation. In addition the campus is within walking distance of restaurants, cafes, shops, and services.
