Valencia High School

27801 North Dickason Drive
661-294-1188

History:
Before the opening of the school, there were tours of the beautiful campus. "The tour went great" said one of the parents of a student who was going to be attending Valencia High School that fall.

The school was first opened on September 4, 1994. Dr. Priesz, our principal then (and now), said, "Only ninth and tenth graders would start in the first year of VHS." The first day came and went and with that a new school was born. Later in the school year, sports became a part of Valencia's history. On September 14, 1994, Robert Santoro passed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on the football field. The Coaches said, enthusiastically, "They're doing great".

On February 18, 1995, the school added a new building to accomodate for the in-coming new students as the school was growing in population. VHS never stops helping, whether it be by helping the homeless, the needy, or children. On January 12, 1997, the members of the Future Images club helped Danny Navarro with his job of helping children with problems.

A couple months later, the VHS band placed first in the Hawaii Festival on April 16, 1997. VHS's first ever graduating class has their ceremony on June 17, 1997.

On September 30, 1998, two of the three shaded structures were built - which are used often by today's students here on the Valencia campus.

On January 23, 1998, the women's basketball team was #3 in the region...once again proving Valencia's Sports teams are a force to be reckoned with. Although with all good history comes the bad, on April 6, 2000, a bomb was found on campus and two students were arrested.

When the school was open there were only a few hundred books in the school's Library, but now, in 2002, there are thousands of books that students use every day.
