Our Mission

As a learning community dedicated to personal growth and academic excellence, the VCPUSD, in partnership with students, parents, and the community, will bring forth individuals who attain academic achievement, a passion for lifelong learning, and respect for themselves and others.

About Us

The school district occupies approximately 300 square miles of San Diego County and enjoys a reputation as an outstanding school district. The District serves kindergarten through twelfth grade students. On July 1, 2000, the Valley Center Union Elementary School District unified with Pauma Elementary School District and Valley Center High School from the Escondido Union High School District to become the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District. The area's educational services now include Pauma School, Palomar Mountain School, and Valley Center High School, and in September 2003, the District opened its tenth school, Lilac School, a K-5 elementary school.

The area is predominately agricultural with numerous citrus and avocado groves. The community supports many active civic and youth organizations, and the schools enjoy a high level of community involvement. Parents and citizens are supportive of the schools and are involved in a variety of school related councils and activities. The Middle School has received national and state awards for excellence.

Valley Center is approximately five miles from major shopping and medical facilities in Escondido. San Diego, with its many attractions, is approximately 35 miles away.
