Our History

Founded in 1869, the Waukee United Methodist Church is one of the oldest churches in Waukee, Iowa. The original church members first met in the Des Moines Valley rail depot under the name of First Methodist Episcopal Church of Waukee. We moved to our current location in 1878, shortly after the town of Waukee was incorporated.

In 1978, we build a new place to worship on the same site as the original building. One of the highlights of our sancuary: Several large stained glass windows that were acquired in 1900, 1901 and 1914. These were removed from the original sanctuary and and have been refurbished (after being stored for 16 years in a member's corn-crib).
