Hello! We are Brooks & Sharon Way and our daughter and son-in-law, Megan & Jason Coopey, the current co-owners of Way Fruit Farm. We'd like to take a minute to tell you about our family owned and operated, local orchard and farm store and the products we offer.
Six generations of the Way family have lived on and worked the Way Fruit Farm. In 1826, Robert and Martha Way purchased the land that has become the Way Fruit Farm. The first apple trees for commercial production of apples were planted in 1872. When Robert A. Way married Lucretia Fisher, her father had a thriving orchard and nursery at the time. He and his wife gave the newlywed couple 1,000 apple trees for a wedding gift. Thus, Way Fruit Farm was born! The farm has continued to expand and now produces and sells apples, peaches, plums, pears, sweet corn, pumpkins, strawberries, cherries, blueberries and apricots.
Our current farm store and cold storage facility, originally built in 1958 by Elwood and Emily Way, have been remodeled and expanded in 2009, and now boasts a bakery and café. There is also plenty of new retail space where you’ll find our own fruits, and local vegetables, meats, cheeses, milk, bulk food items, canned preserves, apple butter, pickles, relishes, salsas and so much more! Come on out and visit us at the farm. We hope to serve you and your family soon!
