Wayne Elementary, an exciting and innovative for learning and living. Wayne currently houses 295 students in Grades K-6 and a host of qualified, competent and caring staff members who focus daily on meeting the needs of each individual child. Wayne Elementary, while focusing on a strong academic curriculum to meet state standards, continally adds to the learning environment in a multitude of creative ways.

Wayne Elementary targets 7 virtues that students and staff incorporate to their day including: compassion, honesty, giving, self-discipline, perseverance, respect, and responsibility. Students are recognized when displaying a specific virtue of the month and are then entered in a drawing to have lunch with Mrs. Reisinger at McDonald's. Best of all, students are learning life lessons and important characteristics we find in Miami Trace students.

Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of additional activities beyond, or in connection with their school day including: Student Council, Honors Band, proud panther proficiency intervention, D.A.R.E., PTO skating parties, Student Council fun days and dances, Pathways, Pride parties, Veteran's Day assembly, and fire safety presentations. Students at Wayne take advantage of these opportunities and become involved in a variety of activities.

Wayne Elementary strongly believes in learning beyond our school walls and many exciting learning adventures have occurred in the past including trips to Fayette County Water & Soil Waterfest, Franklin Conservatory, Agriculture Awareness Day at Wayne, Bonnybrook Pumpkin Farm, the Ohio Historical Society, COSI, Fayette County Court House and Museum, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Zoo, and Camp Wilson Outdoor Education Center. Last year all students enjoyed a trip to the Newport Aquarium. Learning can happen in many different places for children and we love to watch them explore and discover!!!

Wayne Elementary has a terrific volunteer group who is relentless at helping children and getting major projects accomplished. We currently have 27 volunteers who help children as Ohio Reads Volunteers, or in their classroom with any number of tasks. Our volunteers have read to children, assessed math outcomes, attended field trips, assisted with our art fair, prepared proficiency week treats for staff, and organized our PTO. The volunteer program is organized by Mrs. Sherry Sollars, Mrs. Jennifer Kingery, and Mrs. Cindy Seaton. THANK YOU to all volunteers and all you do for Wayne students and staff!!!

Wayne Elementary is proud to share that they have received a $20,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education. We will spend this money on books, materials and staff professional development. Please contact Wayne Elementary if you are interested in becoming involved in the Ohio Reads Volunteer Program.

Wayne Elementary is very proud of their students, staff, parents and community that continue to work together to make our school one of the best in Fayette County.
