About Us:

The West Middlesex Area School District is comprised of students who reside in the West Middlesex Borough, Lackawannock Township and Shenango Township. The school district is located in the southwestern corner of Mercer County, Pennsylvania which is adjacent to the Ohio border. The West Middlesex Area School District is conveniently located on one campus. The staff of Luther Low Elementary educates kindergarten through third grade students, while fourth through sixth grade students attend Oakview Elementary. Seventh through twelfth grade students attend the West Middlesex Junior/Senior High School.

The district is governed by our school board which consists of nine members. Each member is elected by the community on a staggered basis with a four year term. Daily operations and management of the district are overseen by the Administration including: Superintendent, Business Manager, Special Education Director, Technology Director, Maintenance Director, Transportation Director, Cafeteria Supervisor and building level Principals. Budget preparation and control are overseen by the Superintendent and the Business Manager.

An appealing aspect of the West Middlesex Area School District is its small school setting, with approximately 1,010 students in grades K-12. The student/teacher ratio is 15:1. The smaller class sizes promote student focus on the whole child including a strong academic foundation, a positive self-concept and sense of belonging.

Some of the courses offered include: Technology,World Languages, English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. West Middlesex also offers higher level, Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement classes. The Dual Enrollment and Advanced Placement classes are made available to students through a partnership with local colleges and universities. Students also have an opportunity to attend classes at the Mercer County Career Center while also taking classes at West Middlesex.
