The Westfield Historical Society has been extremely active in 2014-15 with special projects to make Main Street more appealing to the eye. 2014 Flag banners were purchased and are on display from May to November. In 2015 a flower box project was started and 20 boxes were built and each one has its own sponsor. Sponsorship entails a $90 one time fee, an agreement to plant flowers, keep the weeds and trash out of them, water the flowers. Planting, weeding and general upkeep is a yearly duty for the sponsor. We also continue to hold the annual "Senior Citizens Picnic" the 2nd Saturday of October, The night time Christmas Parade the Friday night after Thanksgiving, In 2014 we sponsored a house decorating contest, A flower box (the old boxes) decorating contest, Contests for all the Westfield Area Elementary School students from Pre-K to and including 6th grade. A large "Community" Christmas Tree, A community Christmas party with gifts for all children that attended, a visit with Santa. All of these projects take time, money, and volunteers so step up and volunteer for your community.
