Our Mission :
The mission of the Williston Historical Society is to encourage and promote a greater appreciation and knowledge of the historical and cultural heritage of Williston, Vermont. It provides a research collection of printed and manuscript material, photographs and artifacts for use by scholars, historians, history buffs, serious students, Society members, and others in the history of Williston and its people.

The Williston Historical Society is free and open to all. We are able to accommodate all residents of Williston and St. George, VT. We are able to mail photocopied material from our papers, manuscripts, books and photos. We can also scan materials and provide their requests via e-mail. Our goal, as our collection grows, is to better serve our members and the public by maintaining the collection to state-of-the-art archival standards and excellent record keeping. In addition, we strive to inform and present our collection and historical facts relating to our items to members and interested public so that a greater understanding of our heritage can take place. Through these principles the future will be well served.

Vision Statement :
The Vision of the Williston Historical Society is an historical archive that is effectively preserved through the continuing efforts of the Society and general citizenry. WHS will maintain and preserve the use of its diverse collection to help achieve the organization’s mission and to promote the Society and encourage citizens to become members of the Society.

The Vermont Room, where the collection is housed, will be maintained as a showcase for our historical artifacts and regarded as a destination historical center for Williston. In addition, the quarterly newsletter will continue to inform members about Society events and as a voice of historical education for the community, and includes attracting additional members.

The Society’s archives will be completely catalogued and serve as an important research resource for scholars and other qualified individuals. Finally, WHS will collaborate with other organizations to provide regular, qualified historical education programs to the Williston Elementary Schools and all area high school students, as well as making these programs available to other interested groups.
