History

Established in 1918, Woodland Heights Medical Center was Lufkin’s first hospital. Now, more than nine decades later, Woodland Heights is recognized throughout the Texas Forest Country as the leading provider of high quality, innovative health care services.

Recognized for its continued excellence in cardiac care, Woodland Heights is the area’s preferred cardiac center, according to a 2008 HealthStream Research Consumer Insights Survey. For more than 20 years, The Heart Center at Woodland Heights has been at the forefront of cardiac care, including performing several “firsts” for Lufkin and the surrounding areas.

Additionally, Woodland Heights is also the preferred facility for orthopedic care. In 2008, Woodland Heights obtained the Hana™ Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Table – the only surgical table designed exclusively for Hip and Knee Arthroplasty, which reduces the detachment of muscles and improves recovery time.

Accommodating a wide range of clinical specialties, such as neurology, physical medicine/rehabilitation, vascular surgery and obstetrics and gynecology, Woodland Heights also offers a full range of outpatient diagnostic services including advanced imaging, laboratory, outpatient surgery and emergency services. Through its Rehabilitation Center, Woodland Heights offers cardiac rehabilitation, stroke recovery and physical and occupational rehabilitation.

Combining modern facilities, leading technology, an exceptional staff and a commitment to the communities it serves, Woodland Heights Medical Center remains the leader in quality health care in Deep East Texas.
