The idea began in 1962 at the Faith Methodist Church in Lisle.  The first year, the congregation grew from seven to twenty-one members. The meeting place moved from the Woodridge Village Hall to Goodrich School. Woodridge United Methodist Church was officially born with a Service of Organization on Sunday, October 20, 1963.

During the remainder of the 1960s, construction and area-wide population grew.  As a result, by the end of the decade, Woodridge United Methodist Church had a sanctuary (now the Fellowship Hall), a parsonage, and classroom space, that was shared with the Village for Kindergarten.

Additions of members, outreach programs, a Holistic Health Center, choirs, youth ministries and staff were hallmarks of the 1970s. The building and dedication of the current sanctuary and narthex capped that decade.

The 1980s saw membership grow to 820. The church's first associate pastor was hired, as well as additional staff. Small Miracles Preschool was born and a special ministry with Lincoln United Methodist Church in Chicago was created.

During the 1990s, the church building was completely renovated.  Ministries such as outreach offerings, Disciple Bible Study, Lenten groups, family events, and evening Vacation Bible School for all ages became crucial parts of the church's identity.

As we continue our journey, we are humbled and assured by God's abiding presence and love. Our walk with Jesus, and with one another, continues as the lifeblood and spirit of this congregation of United Methodists.
