To educate all students of a diverse community to become responsible, thinking, creative, literate citizens who strive for personal excellence, function, successfully, and enrich society

In 1998, the Hancock Elementary School celebrated its 100th Anniversary although the present school building was constructed in 1962. The school is located in the Borough of Norristown and houses approximately 500 students in kindergarten through 5th grades. Hancock Elementary School was one of the first schools in the district to pilot the full-day kindergarten program during the 2001-2002 school year. New this year is an Autistic Kindergarten class.

Our school structure consists of the inclusion model that allows all students to learn together. Teachers work collaboratively to afford the expertise of each teacher and the strengths of each student to progress. The school building is used by the community for basketball leagues, and Boy and Girl Scouts. Along with our own programs, the school has become a focus of the area.

Through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, Hancock has an after-school program from 3:30-6:30 p.m. free to all students with priority given to those needing academic support. A Reading First grant funded a new position of Reading Coach to provide resources to classroom teachers. Families and Schools Together (FAST), a multifamily group intervention designed to build protective factors for children (4 to 12 years old) and empower parents to be the primary prevention agents for their own children is available to Hancock families.
