The poet and the professor will discuss the history of Mrs. Phillis Wheatley and the friends and associates she communicated with. This event includes a lecture, poetry workshop, seed give away and garden walk. This National Poetry Month event will take place both in-person and online (lecture and workshop only).
Toni Bee is a poet, workshop facilitator, and a Poet Populist emeritus of Cambridge, MA as well as its Inaugural Poetry Ambassador. Nicole Aljoe is a Professor of English and Africana Studies at Northeastern University. They are co-authors of the article "Reading and Teaching Phillis Wheatley Peters in Boston," published in the journal Early American Literature.
