Fowler Ruffin Helps Animals Find Homes and Children Find Happiness

Fowler Ruffin is one of those people who knows the secret to making a heaven here on earth. Just take a look at Pinch Me Acres, the farm she bought with her husband and they named after that feeling of blessedness when you find the answer to your dreams. At Pinch Me Acres the animals are mostly rescues, which is fitting for Fowler whose volunteer work includes Project Pearl, an effort to help place more shelter animals in loving homes. Like Teresa Berg, another animal rescue volunteer photographer, Fowler works with local photographers and other volunteers to take flattering photos of the adoptable animals at the shelter in an effort to help find them forever homes. Fowler and others spruce up the animals for their moment in the spotlight, sometimes replacing collars with necklaces. They take the animals out of their cages and place them on chairs or in homey settings. The animals (and your heart strings) do the rest. The animals aren't the only benefactors of the Fowler touch. She has also volunteered her time and know-how to help revitalize the farm at The Children's Home, a place dedicated to children and families. Under Fowler's care the farm is a place of healing where children and adults - and animals - work together helping and healing each other in the "Friendly Barnyard." The success rates of both of these efforts are in evidence by the increase in adoptions at the shelter and increased smiles at The Children's Home. It's not hard to love children and animals. What's hard is to do something about it. Fowler Ruffin gives us a model to follow.
