Mike Younie Coaches Special Athletes

All Hero Nominee AmericanTowns Hero

This week's hero is Mike Younie, an individual who coaches special athletes to special outcomes. He gives his time and puts his heart into training with local Special Olympics athletes and has worked with special Olympians at the statewide, national and international level, even traveling to Greece in 2011 for the Special Olympics World Games. Mike was chosen by votes to receive an award of $500 in gift cards for his coaching and mentoring efforts and GM will loan him a Chevrolet vehicle for a week as a special treat. Jen Clark, who nominated Mike for the GM competition with a special focus on coaching and mentoring, said "Mike exemplifies the best of Special Olympics. He is kind and gracious with his athletes and strives daily to teach and coach them to their fullest potential…A husband, father, coach, mentor and friend to all, Mike constantly gives back and is the epitome of what a hometown hero should be." Do you know someone who is a mentor and coach to others? Someone who offers their time and talents to help the next guy reach their potential? Nominate them for next week's AmericanTowns Hero.
