Springfield College Students Run to Show Support

All Hero Nominee AmericanTowns Hero

In the days after the bombings in Boston, stories began to surface of people opening their homes and their hearts to the victims and their loved ones. The first responders were praised for their fast action as well as the heroes on the scene who ran to help. As is our nature we look for ways to make sense of the tragedy and we look for ways to help those affected, like Dan Rotatori, Ben Kissam and the other Springfield College students who ran their own 26 mile marathon around the track at school to raise money for The One Fund for Boston. All the young men felt that no matter how small their effort might seem they wanted to do something to show their support. When word spread of their idea to raise money other students on campus starting coming up with their own ideas for fundraisers. One student started encouraging other students to write letters showing their support for the Boston Police department as well as directing anyone who wants to donate to The One Fund for Boston. Since the tragedy, people across the country and the world have come out to run or otherwise show their support for those who ran the Boston marathon and those who will always suffer the scars from that day. We can't erase the evil, but we can tip the scales back to balance with the good we do moving forward. Do you know someone who opens their hearts and channels their energies to help others? Nominate them for next week's AmericanTown's hero.
