Celebrate Your Kids!

Children's Book Week is May 2-8 and we want you to celebrate with us! Thanks to the Friends of the Midland Library, we will be having a Mad Hatter's Tea Party on May 5th AND May 7th. There will be fun and quirky Alice in Wonderland crafts and refreshments available, so drop in and go a little mad with us!

Kodomo no Hi, know as National Children's Day in Japan, also falls on May 5th. It is a day set aside to respect children's personalities and to commemorate their happiness, so of course, we will be celebrating at the library! Join us in Kannapolis on Thursday, May 5th where we will have a mini fish-shaped windsock and other fun activities for the kids.

MIND Your Health

The Concord Library is hosting a Mental Health Resource Fair on Saturday, May 14th, where there will be a presentation covering mental health basics and a panel discussion about accessing mental health as a member of a diverse community.

Organizations in attendance include (but are not limited to):

-Camino Health Center

-Silver Linings NC

-Partners Behavioral Health

-Cabarrus Health Alliance

-National Alliance on Mental Illness

-& more!

Pages for Pantries

Help us give back to the community by reading as much as you can! The library branch team with the most minutes read from May 1-31 will have a $2500 donation made to their local food pantry from the Cabarrus Literacy Council.

Nonperishable food items will be accepted at all branches. Suggested reading and activities are available on Beanstack, although all reading counts and activities are optional.

All patrons that complete the challenge will receive a free coupon from Texas Roadhouse, while supplies last! The top reader from each library branch will receive a dinner-for-two coupon at Texas Roadhouse. Coupons must be redeemed at 7801 Gateway Lane NW Concord, NC 28027. All donated items will go to your local food pantry regardless of which branch wins!
