Mt Pleasant Library & Active Living Center Groundbreaking

Last month the County broke ground on the new facility at Virginia Foil Park in Mt Pleasant that will house both the Library and an Active Living Center. Our Library Director, along with the Mt Pleasant Library staff, were in attendance.

National Literacy Day

Did you know September 8th is International Literacy Day?

According to the American Library Association, "Statistics show the impact of reading on the quality of life...And research has shown that parents who struggle with reading pass this legacy on to their children."

Low literacy rates are linked with multiple negative outcomes in a community, and libraries play an important role in bridging gaps in access to the tools needed for happiness and success through reading and other forms of literacy.
