National Night Out is Tuesday

Have you chosen your neighborhood event yet? We are excited to celebrate National Night Out with all of you on Tuesday, Aug. 2, this year with some updates.

New Carlmont neighborhood party for 2022, City of Belmont welcomes residents to the Belmont Library, 1110 Alameda de las Pulgas from 5:30-8 p.m. to celebrate community with City staff and emergency personnel. The City's special event will feature live music (starting at 6 p.m.), info tables and games for the kids (hint, if you like beetles, we have a special guest).

Staff from City Hall, Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Police, along with SMC Fire Department, and community partners will be on hand. Residents are encouraged to walk, roll, bike, skate to all of the neighborhood events.

2022 Raffle prizes include a chance to win a ride-along, facilities tour, or lunch with a City staff department head. Look for the signs and ballot boxes at each event.

Belmont PD Uncovers Converter Theft Kit

If you're following Belmont Police Department on Twitter (@BelmontCAPolice) then you already know how heroic our Police are.

If you're not following on Twitter, let us tell you how proud we are that it was our alert officer who noticed something odd about a rented van on our street. A little investigation revealed that the well-trained hunch was right.

On Tuesday night, Belmont Police made an arrest and the discovery of a catalytic converter theft kit. Thank you officers for looking out for Belmont residents!

Belmont Creek Update at Sunday's LAST Concert in the Park 2022

Longtime locals know full well that Belmont Creek is a natural waterway in our own backyard. We're working on a project to restore it.

In partnership with our neighbors in San Carlos, the county, and California Department of Water Resources* we're restoring our beautiful creek to its natural status.

Come on down to Sunday’s final free Concert in the Park (1 p.m., Twin Pines Park) and meet Public Work staff who will tell you all about our creek flow restoration, how we’re managing invasive species, controlling erosion, and working with our neighbors and partners to restore our creek.

Take a peek at some of the tools we're using to prepare for the project.

Don't miss out on our stormwater project, too. Staff will be on site to share our latest news on that exciting project as well.

*CORRECTION: Last week's newsletter incorrectly named the state department partnering on the Belmont Creek project. The agency name has been corrected as identified above.
