Election Season is Here

Call for Councilmembers and At-large Mayor opens July 18.

Did you know that how you vote in Belmont in November has changed? When you vote on Nov. 8 this year, you will choose councilmembers in Districts 1 and 3 for the VERY FIRST TIME, and you will also select an At-large Mayor for a 2-year term.

In 2021, Belmont shifted to a new model for voting by identifying four districts that equally represent Belmont on our City Council.

Want to be a candidate? Starting July 18 and only until Aug. 12, 2022, Belmont's nomination period is open for Councilmembers for Districts 1 and 3 AND At-large Mayor. (Districts 2, 4, and At-large Mayor will be up in 2024).

To find all of the details – and a map of districts – visit www.Belmont.gov/Districts.

An appointment is required for all interested candidates. Call our City Clerk at:
(650)-595-7413 or email at [email protected]. Candidates will be announced Aug. 19.

General Election Candidate Information Training
Belmont residents intending to run for a Council seat in Districts 1 and 3 or At-large Mayor are encouraged to attend a virtual informational seminar held on July 28.

The San Mateo County Elections Division host the candidate filing seminars for the Nov. 8, 2022 Statewide General Election.

These seminars will cover important topics such as filing deadlines, filing forms, candidate statement, campaign finance reports, and voter data, etc.
