The Board of Aldermen met on Tuesday evening in a special joint meeting with the Smithville School District.  The two boards shared information relating to construction projects and ballot initiatives and shared information relating to strategic planning, economic development and recruitment of a new superintendent of schools.

In regular session, the Board took the following action.

-Approved the October 18, 2022 Work Session and Regular Session minutes.

-Approved a resolution authorizing purchase of two zero turn mowers an da rotary cutter for the Parks and Recreation Department.

-Approved a resolution acknowledging purchase of City Hall servers from the NASPO ValuePoint Cooperative Purchasing program in an amount not to exceed $21,671.48.

-Approved a resolution awarding RFQ No. 22-22, Camp Host Services, to Janet Terry and Chris Dunkin for the 2023 camping season.

-Approved a resolution authorizing the expenditure of funds for the purchase of Mobile Data Terminals in patrol cars for the Smithville Police Department in an amount not to exceed $10,022.84.

-Approved on first reading an ordinance authorizing staff to proceed with the destruction of certain finance and police records as authorized by the retention and destruction schedule approved by the Secretary of State’s Office.

-Approved on first reading an ordinance amending the FY2023 Budget to add $51,500 to the expenditure budget in the Combined Water and Wastewater Systems Fund to purchase a skid steer loader.

-Approved a resolution approving Change Order No. 5 with Irvinbuilt Constructors in the amount of $7,742 for a gate for the Raw Water Pump Station.

-Approved a resolution approving the replacement of the backwash pump with Mid-America Pump in the amount of $16,917.34.

-Approved a resolution acknowledging an emergency purchase from United Heating and Cooling, Inc. for an HVAC system for City Hall in the amount of $8,624.
