Utility Disconnection Policy Change

On October 18, 2022, following several months of review and discussion, the Board of Aldermen formally approved changes to the City’s Policy Manual which will extend the amount of time to pay until utility disconnection occurs.  Beginning in November, water disconnections will be performed on the first business day after the 19th of the following month for utility accounts in arrears more than $100.00.

Here is a billing example of the new policy: the October 2022 cycle bill will be produced by November 3, 2022. This bill will be due on November 16 and late fees will be assessed on the first business day after November 21. Disconnection of services for utility billing accounts in arrears more than $100.00 will take place on the first business day after December 19 (rather than on the first business day following the November 26).
