2022 State of the City address

Mayor Corey Woods’ speech from the 2022 State of the City is available now for viewing.

The Tempe Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2022 Tempe State of the City Address on Friday, Dec. 2 at The Buttes hotel. Mayor Corey Woods shared the city’s accomplishments and provided a look ahead.

The 20-minute speech spotlighted the city's leadership on issues including the Tempe Entertainment District, Refresh Tempe, affordable housing and unsheltered homelessness.

Tempe makes progress reducing city carbon emissions

Tempe is partnering with APS to purchase renewable energy to help lower the city’s carbon emissions and make progress on its municipal carbon neutrality goal. Renewable energy through the Green Power Partners (GPP) program will help reduce Arizona air pollution, enhancing the quality of life for Tempe residents and visitors.

The GPP program will allow the city to purchase renewable wind power from APS, powering every city facility within their service area and increasing Tempe’s overall renewable energy in city operations to about 35%.

Arizona State University is hosting a free World Cup Finals watch party at Sun Devil Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 18. Join thousands of local soccer fans to watch the final match of the tournament. Blankets, pillows and seat cushions are allowed and encouraged. Concessions will be available for purchase. Free with registration.
