This year marks the 27th Annual Commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Aurora and many events are schedule throughout the week of Jan. 14 through Jan. 21. Join Aurora as we celebrate the life and legacy of one man’s dream of freedom and equality for all. MONDAY, JAN. 14
Kickoff Festivities & Press Conference: 11 a.m., Mayor Steve Hogan kicks off a week of celebration at the Town Center at Aurora, 14200 E. Alameda Ave. On display, MLK Jr. Panels from the Blair Caldwell African American Research Library.
TUESDAY, JAN. 15
Humanitarian Awards and Colorado Symphony Performance: 7 p.m., Boettcher Concert Hall, 1000 14th St. Denver. Mayor Steve Hogan will be among the speakers.
WEDNESDAY, JAN. 16
Live Telecast on Contemporary Issues: 7 to 9 p.m., on Aurora Channel 8.
FRIDAY, JAN. 18

MONDAY, JAN. 21
Aurora Motorcade for Marade: 8 a.m., Participants gather at the east side of Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, travel to Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave., for ceremony, laying of the wreath. At 10 a.m., Travel to Denver City Park. Aurora Mayor Steve Hogan lays a wreath at the “I Have a Dream” monument.
Marade from Denver City Park: 11 a.m., Marade begins in the park and travels to the Denver Civic Center.
