Day, Senior Vice President of Capital Projects at Historic Annapolis, as he offers a continued behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of the James Brice House, dating back to 1774. Day will explore the daunting task of researching all of its inhabitants throughout the centuries, while investigating and painstakingly restoring the mansion to its original appearance in 1774.

Virtual Lecture - The Valley Forge Winter and the Man Who Made It Count

Tuesday, May 24

The hard winter of 1777, when the Continental Army was camped at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, was a turning point in the American Revolution, the moment when new drills and regimental regulations finally turned a ragtag collection of ill-supplied and often embittered enlistees into a more disciplined and professional fighting force capable of winning a war. This program with historian Richard Bell tells this important story from the perspective of Baron Friedrich von Steuben, the Prussian immigrant with the unusual home life whom Washington tasked with achieving that critical transformation.
