Beginner MAHJONG- Tuesdays at 12:30PM

Mahjong is a game of both skill and luck that originated in China many centuries ago. Tiles are shuffled, die are cast, and rituals involving the allocation of tiles and then the exchange of tiles begin

SCRABBLE- Tuesdays 12:30PM- The Scrabble Club is seeking new players!

Do you love to spell? Do you love to play Scrabble and have great conversations with others? Come on out and join this fantastic group and be ready to have a blast! NEW MEMBERS ALWAYS WELCOME!

NEW START OF SUMMER SPECIAL BINGO Tuesday, June 21st, 1:00 PM

Join for an afternoon of Special Bingo to welcome the start of Summer sponsored by our friends at Candlewood Valley Health & Rehab! To sign up, please connect with the Senior Center and we hope you join us for lunch too.

NEW RIVER WALK WEDNESDAYS 9:30 AM

Join us for a nice walk along the Housatonic! The path is paved and flat which makes it perfect for all abilities. Park at the Senior Center and hop on the bus and we will take you there; bus leaves at 9:25AM. Or if you prefer to drive, meet us on Youngsfield Rd by the playground. Be sure to stop in to sign up!

BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS Wednesdays, 10:30 - 11:30 AM

Join us for a weekly, first come, and first serve blood pressure screening with New Milford’s very own Community Health Nurses. This free service provides you with an opportunity to check and track your blood pressure as well as meet with a nurse for basic health questions and guidance.

The Bridge Club is seeking new members!  BRIDGE CLUB Wednesdays, 12:30 PM

Bridge is a team trick taking game played with a standard 52 playing card deck. Join in on the fun!

Midweek Matinee- Every Wednesday at 1PM

Already know how to play Mahjong; then this is the group for you. New members are always welcome.

WHAT’S HAPPENING: CURRENT EVENTS AND CONVERSATION Thursdays, June 9th and June 23rd, 10:30 AM *NEW TIME*

Join us for lively discussions of current events, from local to international every 2nd and 4th Thursday. Some may prefer to just listen and learn while others may offer their thoughts, but all must be respectful! Whatever your comfort level, you will be welcomed to join in the conversation.  Join us for a game or two of cornhole, a sport that has swept the nation. We’ll hold these games each Tuesday and have the option to play indoors or outdoors, weather permitting. To sign up, please connect with the Senior Center and let the games begin!

Let's Listen to some Rock n Roll! July 6th, 10AM

Come listen and have some fun with the Music of the 50's and 60's. Stephen Armstrong will be our host for the celebration of our youth!

He spoke to us on June 14 and we all had a great conversation! This time we will be hearing those songs and groups we talked about.

“SENIOR” SENIOR PROM- July 22nd 12PM-3PM

It’s PROM season! Come spend time with your friends, enjoy a buffet meal, and cut a rug while listening to some fantastic music! Bluesy Land Band, a 4 piece 50’s, 60’s and 70’s band, will have us up on our feet and dancing the afternoon away! Dress up or come casual, this event is for you to enjoy!

Tickets are $15.00 per person and will be on sale July 1st-July 15th. Busses will be available at the New Milford Senior center to shuttle you to The Maxx, or you can choose to drive and park.

RENTER’S REBATE IS NOW OPEN:

Application periodApril 1st – October 1st

Eligibility Requirements: Must be age 65 or older or Social Security disabled and rented in New Milford in the previous year (2021).

Income limit is $46,400.

Documents required:

-Proof of last year’s income: Previous year’s tax return and Social Security 1099, or if did not file, all 1099 forms including SS 1099.  

-Proof of rent and utilities paid in previous year via note from Landlord or payment records

SNAP is Now Accepted at the New Milford Farmer's Market on the Green Saturdays 9am-12pm starting June 4 2022.

SENIOR COMMUNITY CAFE –Come have lunch with us!

The Community Culinary School of Northwestern CT serves lunch Monday - Thursday at 12:00 PM and there is a suggested donation of $4.00. Come on in for a program then stay for lunch or pick up to take home to enjoy! Please note that the menu is always posted in the monthly newsletter.

Sign up in person, on our Touch Screen, or by phone, at least 3 days in advance!

Be sure to be on the lookout for a new suggestion box that will be on the lunch table in the dining room. Let the Chefs know what you love, what you would like to see more of, what you like or dislike, share a recipe, or just say thanks! This suggestion box will allow you to add anonymous comments, and with your suggestions, help the Chefs fine tune the menus. 

Senior Bus Transportation-- If you live in New Milford, Gaylordsville or Northville and need transportation to come to the center, go shopping or go to a friend’s house? All you have to do is give us a call a few days ahead of time to get on our bus schedule. Call us at 860-355-6075 to schedule your ride and meet our fantastic bus drivers, Erin and Tom.

There is something for everyone, at The New Milford Senior Center!

As a reminder, we will be closed on Monday, June 20th to honor and observe JUNETEENTH.
