Being stuck inside while it is bitterly cold or snowy can be rough for people of all ages. But as long as you have a smartphone or tablet, blizzards, cold weather and ice storms don't have to derail the entire day.

U.S. Cellular is hosting free Device Workshops in Knoxville to demonstrate the ways your wireless device can keep the family entertained when the weather keeps you indoors. The workshops are open to everyone, and you don't need to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend.

"Whether you want to learn something new or be entertained, the right apps and our high-quality network that works when and where you need it will help you stay connected on a cold and snowy day," said Nathan Waddell, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Tennessee.

The free Device Workshops are being held at Knoxville area locations at the dates and times below:

  • ·      Feb. 13, 9 a.m. at 4873 N. Broadway
  • ·      Feb. 18, 6 p.m. at 8401 Kingston Pike
  • ·      Feb. 20, 9 a.m. at 2736 Schaad Road

According to a recent U.S. Cellular survey¹, 94 percent of people use their phone to keep themselves entertained, 89 percent use it to stay up-to-date with the  news, and 79 percent use it to play or download music. U.S. Cellular associates will be on hand to show attendees how to use these features and explain the advantages smartphones offer.

¹ Between Nov. 12-21, 2015, a total of 735 online interviews were conducted among a nationally representative sample by Consumer Insights, in partnership with Maritz CX.

Additional data charges may apply. 4G LTE service may be provided through King Street Wireless, a partner of U.S. Cellular. LTE is a trademark of ETSI.
